More adventures from the first week...

Here are a few more things we did the first week. We were complete tourists and were toted around on a bus all day as we visited "Little Switzerland." This was basically a trail through woods that could have been straight out of Lord of the Rings. Then we went to the Chateau de Beaufort (I believe that's what it was called) which was a gorgeous castle from somewhere in the 1200's. It took some convincing but I went down into the prison area where they still had shackles. It was terrifying (as I'm sure you can tell by the look on my face), but still interesting. Then we went to the Luxembourg Country Fair which has been going on for 600 some odd years, they had all sorts of carnival rides and food. Everything was really great (and Dad you'll be proud because I even tried some traditional potato pancake things... the name of which I will never be able to pronounce).
Today is our day off, and we woke up this morning to a champagne and fondue breakfast/lunch/dinner (we jokingly decided to call it blinner). We sat at the table and talked with the family for 3 hours and it was the best "blinner" I've ever had! haha. We all got a lot closer to the host family and because the English speaking son was there we got a lot of questions answered (stupid things like how to use the blinds, or why the internet goes off at night). Although there were some obvious cultural differences (like how we didn't know that we could eat the dessert cake with our hands, or how they stared at us completely puzzled when we put mint-chocolate syrup in our coffee), I think it was the first time we all felt European :)
